I chose United Arab Emirates because Arab is an Islamic country which means they have dress codes sent by Prophet Muhammad. I also want to go to UAE because the UAE is a very interesting country eg they have over 200 nationalities.

The Labyrinth
Yesterday we watched a movie called 'The Labyrinth'. The movie was about a girl named Sarah who has to babysit his little brother. The brother was really annoying Sarah by crying and not stopping. Sarah wishes that the trolls would come and take his brother away. when she leaves his room something was not feeling right. She goes back to his room and finds that her little brother is missing. A mysterious person enters through the window. Sarah quickly knows that he was the one who took her brother. She told Jareth that she wants her brother back but Jareth refused. Then Jareth tells Sarah that he will give her 13 hours to find her brother. Sarah had to go through a maze to get into his castle. When she enters and she finds her brother. This is a DLO about the movie that we watched.

Tahuna Tereo
Yesterday the seniors of PBS went to Tahuna Tereo. The reason we went there is because it was connected to our Inquiry. We got to look at the wetland where the birds migrate to and where they also find their food. During the trip we had 4 rotations. Our first rotation was having lunch. Second we got the opportunity to go to the beach. After coming back from the beach we got a long time to play on the park. Next we moved onto the hike. I think the hike was very educational because we learnt about where the birds migrate from and their habitat.

Paper rocket Procedural Writing
Last week on Friday after Tech we spent the whole day at Tamaki College building rockets. First we made a straw rocket. We had to watch a mini YouTube clip to get an idea of how to make the rocket. Next we moved onto making a cardboard rocket that we didn't have enough time to finish. Today in class we had to recap our learning session at Tamaki College by creating a procedural writing on how to make a straw rocket.

Rockets
Last week on Friday we were building rockets. Firs we started off with building a straw rocket. We had to test our straw rockets 3 times and find out their distances. After testing the straw rockets we built our own rockets using hard paper. The making of the paper rocket was easy because we just had to fold, attach and glue the pieces together. Our teacher for the session Mr Dunn showed us a demonstration of what our rocket should fly like. When we flew the paper rocket outside it didn't work properly. Next we attempted to fly the 3D printed rocket. We also added a twist in the 3D rocket. We added fireworks to the rocket. We flew the rocket but it went so high and never came back. A huge thank you to Mr Dunn for organizing the session for us.

Kuaka Migration - Reading
For the next 2 weeks of school we will be working on a multi-model. The task is about the Kuaka Migration. In today's session we were using our prior knowledge ( facts we already know ). We had to find out some ways of how people might of traveled today, 30 years ago and 100 years ago. We had to use our own knowledge so that we can understand what we are doing. We also looked back at our question matrix and changed some questions and finished in the gaps that had nothing. I think this was a good way of learning because we all worked as a group and we all understood our learning that was going on.

Pigeon Post
For the past 2 weeks we have been working on Pigeon Post. This was a new learning for my reading group because we used a multimodal DLO. Our reading group was split into 4 groups R, E, A, and D. Our group was R. We had to work collaboratively as a group and use our smart searching skills to get our tasks done and make up our mind if pigeons are 'pests' or special birds. My opinion was that I think that they are very special birds because they risked their lives during WW1 to deliver important messages behind the enemy lines that saved many of the soldiers lives. Check out our pigeons reading follow up where we did all of the other tasks by clicking here.

There were 6 colors that all meant something. The colors were Purple (reverse), Blue (roundabout), Red (stop), Orange (slow down), Green (go), Silver (speed up) Everyone really enjoyed the session this morning and would really like to thank the 2 hockey coaches for teaching us more hockey techniques.

Pigeons
In reading for the past few weeks we were learning about pigeons and finding out if they are pests or special animals. We were put into groups to research pigeons to find out if they are pests or special kinds of birds. Some people think that Pigeons are pests because they carry over 60 types of diseases. Other people think that pigeons are a special type of bird because they risked their lives in WW1 and 2 by carry messages and delivering it to other people from different cities.

On Wednesday 7th Panmure Bridge School had our whole school cross country. The whole school helped to cheer each other up. When it was our turn to run the ground was muddy and very slippery so it made it difficult for us to run in. For me the first two laps went well, but then the third and fourth lap I found very difficult. Congradulations to Zahn, Cecillia, Mia and Daniel for scoring first place.

Magic Box Poem
I will put into the box …
A rare seashell from Hawaii on a windy Autumn day
A journal that is over 50 thousand years old
The sweet taste of chocolate as it melts in my mouth
I will put into the box …
The delightful scent of daisy petals falling off the plant
A teddy bear made of human flesh
A flag of Afghanistan that I stand proud of
I will put into the box …
the lingering scent of my favourite perfume
A fairy on a broomstick
The stars in the sky that are made out of puffy marshmallows
My box is fashioned from Love and gold and diamonds, with secret ancient codes on the lid and corners. Its hinges are made space and luxury. I shall keep my box till my last days, and store all my memories from good to bad in it as time goes by.
This week in LS2 as part of writing we have been focusing on descriptive writing. We were introduced to a poem called 'Magic Box' our teacher. The author of the poem is Kit Wright. After reading the poem we had to write our own version of the 'Magic Box'. We had to use descriptive words to paint a clear photo in someones mind when they are reading our poems.
